Hair Product Mystery 2

So it's been just over 3 weeks and this is my current hair length.

It might all be in my little brain but I think it is slightly longer than the before picture I took a few weeks back.

Yes I do!

Tying it in a low ponytail kids me to think that it looks even longer so I am all about this hairstyle at the moment.

Of course it's still not long enough to make me happy but I am pleased that it feels thicker and healthier.

I still have at least 5 weeks left to go, trialling this product but no adverse reactions to report which is always good to hear.

A musing

It's perhaps pathetic how important hair can be to self-esteem and contentment but this whole process has made me realise that alot of emotional investment goes into it.

When I had long hair I felt more feminine and more like "me". The shortness, whilst initially liberating and not something I regret - that damage had to go after all - ultimately makes me feel less attractive.

For me this is what I call "mid-length syndrome". I have experienced this before and it occurs when my hair rests in Stage Blah: neither short enough to be funky/elfin nor long enough to be uber glamorous.

The cure for this? Investment in good products, a good diet, a lack of GHDs and most importantly a combination of patience and time.

Let see how I do. :)

I think you looked gorgeous with short hair as well as when you had long hair..i dont think many people can carry off the length of hair you had when you chopped it all off. I think your hair has grown too.

Good on you for giving up your GHDs but mine will be forever stuck with me!

What is this mystery product you have been trying out to promote hair growth? Dying to know because you and I are in one of the same boat!

@Ally - I am so pleased I gave up the GHD's. I have used them once in the last 2 months. woot! you should try it :)

@Megan - I will probably just spill the beans in a couple of weeks :) don't get too excited :) haha

@Dressjunkie - Stage Blah is a real condition I can tell you :) can wait till I progress to Stage Long Locks :) haha

I know what you mean about the mid-length syndrome. I have always had long hair but in a moment of madness decided that going shoulder length was the way forwards. Instantly on leaving the salon I felt less 'me' and feminine, very bizarre- sticking with long hair from now on!

being unhappy with the length of my hair, i'm thinking of buying a wig, there are some beautiful ones on eBay, cheaper than a pair of GHD's with real hair, so you can style without damaging your own hair, and it can grow underneath the wig! Might seem a bit drastic but i can't wait to order my wig! lol

I loved your hair when you got it cut:) It's lovely now too though, really shiny and it has grown a lot.

hi! long time reader, first time commenter :) I was just curious if you've heard of or tried the Conditioner Only method? any thoughts on it?

ps - your hair looks so cute like that in the low ponytail! it'll grow out in no time.

@aretha - I kind of want it long long long...:) and blonde :) haha.

@hannahbabeyxo - yay! thanks for thinking so :)

@Beautyjunkielondon - I can obviously relate :) i am going to be vigilant about hair condition now and make sure i keep it tip-top so I don't have to resort to drastic measures :)

@Jodders - go for it! thats why i wear extensions after all - to make me feel better about my natural hair!

@Jenny9119999 - yay! i am so relieved that it has grown a little bit :)

I know what you mean about feeling more attractive with long hair. In my quest for long tresses I have been trying the Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment and it has worked wonders on my hair...check out what I thought of it here if you like http://liparazzi.blogspot.com/2009/11/lee-stafford-hair-growth-treatment.html

Your hair looks to have certainly grown!

Hair is such a strange thing. Dead cells that we put so much time, effort and money into! My hair grows so fast that it usually gets to a certain length then I chop it off and start all over again!!

I have not used my GHD in over a month, I still blow dry but my hair is much healthier.

I've been hearing about it on makeup alley for a while now but I haven't had the guts to take the plunge yet. apparently it's either a miracle worker or a total disaster, not much middle ground, lol. and the adjustment period can be a little unsettling. I need to set aside a few days I can hide in bed if necessary ;)

The low ponytail looks really awesome! I'm glad it has already grown so nicely and is healthy now, I can relate to how long hair makes you feel more feminine and attractive, it's just the same with me. Mine is actually long already now but always appears much shorter because it's very curly, but I don't straighten, coloring is enough I think. ;)
Good luck you're entirely happy with your great hair soon xxx

i hate in btw hair too... my wardrobe and fashion style always has to change with it...i don't like the "it's neither long nor short feeling as well"

Oczko160 said...

So how do you aually style your hair? Without heat I mean. Could you do a video about it?

rosyolif said...

You look just great with either short hair, middle lengt hair as you do with long hair! It's usually the colour of the hair that makes a face, not necessarely the length, right? You have beautiful hair, goodluck with growing it, haha!

Nhung said...

I can't wait to see the result! I hope it works for you so you can recommend it for us. haha. I have been having lots of hair trouble and I need a miracle. Keep us updated ;]

It's so true about hair and self-esteem. My hair thinned dramatically as a side-effect of medication and I've never felt so miserable. Even though it's only hair...Only when it grew back could I think and act like myself again. Yours looks so good though!

Doris said...

hey laura, what colour do you use on your hair?

Babybubblz said...

I agree that hair length and mood correlate =) I'm trying to grow it out, but gah! -I go for trims and the any new length is gone :P

Stage blah! :D your awesome :D

Kellie said...

i'm excited to see the mystery product your using. i went really short, and now just at bob length i am too at the blah stage and long for long hair again!
your hair looks great !

Amanda S. said...

I'm currently in stage blah. I cut off just an inch which is usually no big deal, but this time it looks like crap. Way too choppy and not glamourous -- I'm in the waiting game with you too, but for my layers to grow out. Although, I've been blessed with rapid hair and nail growth that it'll be back to regular length by December.

aww I go through that crises that whenever I get a haircut! I hate to the extent that I even tell my hairdresser to leave a bit of my splitends on to give me an illusion of longer hair! Sad I know lol but anything to make me feel feminine hehe

Just dont straighten it often and it will grow tremendously!

Glitterati89 said...

I understand what you mean about the 'Blah' stage- my hair never grows past that stage!.. The price you pay for dying your hair platinum blonde :p

For what it is worth I think your hair is stunning at any length :)

Dear Lolli,

I think you looked loveliest with the shortet haircut (which is still quite long, all things considered): playful, coquette but also refined.

Just to let you know, and now good luck letting your hair grow!

You have a lovely rich colour from your hair.

Im in the mid length club too and I'm off the ghd at the moment. I have normally natural straight hair but since I let my hair grow its goes curly at the end. Suits me with the style I'm going for!

I LOVE your hair color is so prety...

holls94 said...

i get that too, when my hair is between long and short i cut it and then end up regretting it and buying extensions :/. you always look lovely though whether your hair is long or short (:! X

I tottally understand what you mean about loving the short hair at first and then not feeling attractive enough. I am EXACTLY in the same place as you where my hair is in blah land. I fight it everyday to make it look as good as it can be and I can't wait for it to grow out. My fiance thinks its hot and everything...it is.. I guess but I am just so bored of the length and the same thing everyday. I miss my long hair! And I cut my hair super short! Right now my hair is about half your length. I can't wait to know about this product. Hopefully I will be able to afford it! I need my hair back!

xSplendidStar said...

So got to agree with you there. When I cut my hair, it felt all right at first but then I started to miss my hair even more T_T and really regret chopping it off. So now I am in a search of a miracle product that can boost up my hair growth and prevent so much hair loss >_< *Sigh* Can't believe I have to encounter this problem at the age of 17.

Can't wait to hear your review about the product mystery and see how long your hair has grown!

Hair is continually growning...so your hair has probably grown in the last 3 weeks.

Usually 1/2 and inch grows a month.

you know you should give your head a 10 minute massage every other day. it makes the blood circulation in your head like better lol... causing hair to grow slightly faster then normal. i read it by a hollywood hairdresser. i didnt believe it to begin with mut my hair has def. got longer, quicker. x
