I have been using this for about the last month after I got it in Minneapolis duty free earlier this year and it is now become my morning moisturiser of choice.
It took me a while but I saw it sitting on the shelf and thought - why don't I use that? *Shrugs* What can I say? Sometimes I forget what I have. :)
So this is the routine...
After I apply Kiehl's Avocado eye cream - which deserves it's own post it's so amazing - I apply this on my face.
I like the fact that it has a good strength SPF in it, that it is rich and creamy but sinks it immediately and when it does you get a subtle menthol cooling effect upon application.
It hasn't broken me out and it is termed a "de-ageing" product by Clinique which sounds pretty darn fantastic to me.
For those of you more sensitive there is no titanium dioxide in the ingredients list and if you have a different skin type - for example, dry or normal - there is a version for you.
It's not all fab-dabulous though - put this near your eye area and you will probably get a little red and sore: it's not a "fix-all" cream and you do need a separate product for that part of the face.
Of course, you may also hate it entirely for other reasons but that's what a review is for. :)
Give me faith
I have to say though that this has restored my faith in Clinique a little bit. I would definitely look again at their cream selection, having had good experiences with this and their Turnaround line.
Ending on a low
On a totally different note I am sad to say that the cream I tend to wear at night, the By Terry Gelee de Rose, is failing to live up to expectations - and its price tag. I think I wanted it to perform in the same way as my beloved Strivectin - a cream that really gave a glow and refined texture. This seems to do very little. Yeah, it moisturises but it literally does nothing other than that. A big fat disappointment for me and my wallet.
Don't you just hate that?

Hi Laura
I've also been enjoying Clinique lately...recently switched my entire skincare routine from Proactiv and no regrets whatsoever. My skin's texture is softer, my pores are a lot less clogged and the (here goes) Advanced Stop Signs Eye preventive cream spf 15 has made my dark circles quite a bit lighter. I'm a pretty happy Clinique user these days...
I used that Clinique product for years and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Glad you do too!
I have to say that blablabla SPF25 from Clinique is a disappointment for me. A friend gave it to me--she'd bought it for herself but has rather sensitive skin and this wasn't working for her--and I only used it a few times when the sun was shining brightly and I didn't feel like putting on my sun factor 50+ (yah, bonkers).
I find that this product makes my skin burn a little when I put it on and it doesn' moisturise or mattify my combination skin very well.
But glad to hear it's working for you. Too bad about Terry nightcream, haven't tried anything from that line as the steep prices are putting me off (booo poor student life, boo).
xo

I've also been getting back into Clinique after a few years break from using any of their skincare.
I'm starting slowly though - have just been using Clinique Sun SPF 30 face cream and I am loving it. It doesn't have that sunscreen-nie smell and it hasn't disturbed my sensitive skin (yet!).
Oh, so this sinks in fast? That's a must I want from day creams.I need to stop by a Clinique store to ask for samples HEHHE
Hope my skin won'T get itchy from it!^^
That's very disappointing regarding the By Terry moisturiser, especially given the price!I often find that, ironically, the cheaper moisturisers are better. I swear by Aloe Propolis Cream. It's 100% natural and really improves the texture of the skin. Take a look at it here http://www.naturaloe.co.uk/Aloe-Propolis-Cr-me.html. It's rich but sinks into skin perfectly and I love it.Hope this helps x
Nice to see you've had layovers in my local airport...(Chicago trip, I'm guessing because there is absolutely no reason to visit Minneapolis otherwise.)
I agree with you about rediscovering Clinique. I went off it long ago, but it has been creeping back into my routine since I rediscovered their face scrub. I'm not sure I'll be venturing into their makeup any time soon (too bland), but I like their skincare...especially the green body lotion, which is IMPOSSIBLE to find.
Disappointing to hear about the Baum d'Rose.
can't wait to read your thoughts on kiehl's avocado eye cream! I'm thinking of getting it but it's got mixed reviews. I do love kiehl's ultra facial cream. the clinique cream looks pretty good too, thanks for sharing!
This line definitely has great marketing appeal - everything about it sounds amazing!
Does the high SPF give a white cast?
Thanks for the review, will try to get my hands on a sample!
I've always wanted to try Clinique, but I haven't really done it yet. Not sure why... Maybe I'll give it a second thought.
That's sucks about By Terry. When I looked up the price I choked lol. Haha. Too bad it didn't work out for you -- but you love the lip stuff, right? Not a total loss!
Yes, there are some very good products in the Clinique range: I love their Dramatically blabla Gel and their liners are gorgeous. For a night cream I would suggest their Repairwear somethin’somethin’ concentrate or the Estee Lauder Revalation – I love this one! Also, Pure Perfection from Ole Henriksen is a very good one. Both the EL and Ole have some glycolic acid (I think) so they really get rid of the dead cells and dull skin.
Too bad that By Terry didn’t work for you. Well, look at it this way: now you have a perfect opportunity to try something new
I've been using this for the last couple of weeks and I was surprised about how much love it. Especially as I usually hate creamy moisturisers. While Clinique DDMG is still my favourite, Superdefense is a close second.
DO you really like Stivectin? I was wondering if it really worked. What do you like about it?
I love your videos by the way!
Great review hun, i can honestly say i never used any clinique products so this is something i may have to look in to!
xox
i love clinique products! especially the turnaround concentrate - my skin is soo smooth after. But the prize is a bummer :(
I've never personally been very impressed with with Clinique's products, but this cream does sound quite nice. Also I've heard good things about their new mineral foundation. Might give it a whirl this holiday season.
PS. I'm liking Burt's Bees Day cream with royal jelly for the winter.
I think that clinique is totally underrated as a brand...I use a lot of their products and adore each one!
So is this cream actually good for oily skin? I on a quest to find the perfect moisturizer for oily skin that will also have an anti-aging effect. I am currently using the "KORRES Alpine Herbs - anti-stress and anti-ageing cream for oily and combination skin" and I like it a lot. The Clinique cream sounds a lot similar and I think I should give it a try too...
I have been browsing the Clinique counter for awhile but still have not purchased anything- my skin reacts really well to products from the body shop so I am hesitant to spend extra money when what I am using works really well (and is affordable).
I am going to check out the Kiehl's Avocado eye cream though- that sounds like it might be a winner :)
Has anybody heard anything about using Bempathen nappy rash creme as a moisturiser? I heard that some makeup artists use it. On certain level it makes sense, one has never seen a wrinkly or dry baby's bottom, but on other level it is slightly strange.
This was my HG morning moisturizer for about a year. I'm on my second full-size jar of it.
I say it "was" my HG because I no longer use it on a daily basis. Sadly, it started to cause redness and a slight burning sensation when I applied it, and I had to stop using it every day.
Nowadays, I only use it on days when I don't wear makeup. (When I do wear makeup, I use MAC Prep & Prime SPF 50.)
But I do think the Superdefense is a great product. It never broke me out and didn't give me that awful shiny or white-chalky sunscreen look.
Please, please, please fill me in on the Avocado eye cream from Kiehls!! I trust your opinion and I have been looking for a good eye cream..thanks!
OMG! OMG! I would absolutely go insane if you read this! haha, okay..so i have a question? How did you get to be so amazing!?! Your sooo well known and looked up to, it would mean the world to me if you could help me! You really have no idea how much it would mean to me if you could maybe...heh....tell some people about my channel http://www.youtube.com/user/ktdazzles
I mean you don't even have to tell anyone, just if you watched i would literally pass out, lol, it would mean so much to me! ily!! xoxoxo!!
heheh. i live by my Clinique superdefense... yeah too long of a name. since next year is big 3-0 for me, all my skin care now says "de-ageing" hahahahaha
i bought 1 more back up tub on my recent holiday.
I love this Clinique moisturizer. I bought it recently and after having used Lancome Aqua Fusion for a couple years, I decided to change. I'm glad u wrote about this. =)
I love Clinic product I didn't know about this one until now =) going to wait the next 20%off at Sephora now =)
This moisturiser burnt my skin and left me with red dry patches all over my face. I would recommend a sample to anyone if they have sensitive skin.
Omg i have had this lying around for so long and even though im still a young'un i tried it the other day..it made my eyes burn so much! i was literally crying!
Good old olay for me!
Laura I cant believe you were in Minneapolis and didnt tell anyone. I would have loved to meet up with you! Did you go the Mall Of America? I hope you got a chance to visit a bit of Minneapolis, its such a beautiful city, with all of our lakes and parks. I dont know what that girl from Chicago was talking about. Anyway, thanks for the clinique review, as I am always leary of clinique. Cheers.
Hi! I am a big fan of your blog and also your Youtube videos. I love watching you and readind your posts. So fun!!! I have an award for you on my blog. I really hope you like it! :)
I always have to wear sunscreen on my face and after your review of the clinique product I will definitely give it a try! Thank you.
Gorgeous, as always.
xoxo
hey Laura, been follwing you a long long time but thought I needed to tell you that maybe you gelee de rose from by terry is not the one for you in her rose range and this one is for combination skin. nothing anti ageing and regenerationg for the cells. Working with these product myself I would recommend the creme de rose for you or the seve de rose because u seem to have a thin skin yet sensitive... It is highly different in the ingredients from the strivectin range... I really understand why you are disappointed in this cream. But hope next time you will be better advised.
take care and good luck in your new flat in Dubai
xxx laetipro
This is my absolute favorite moisturizer right now! I have very dry skin and plus I had dry patches which this fixed. LOVE it!!
